The Great Wonder of Resurrection

It was an empty tomb that filled our Christians lives with glory.  The angel’s words, ” you won’t find Him here.  He is risen” was a wondrous proclamation – that Jesus had the power to shame and defeat death and rise in all His glory.

Jesus patiently bore all the sufferings that come His way before his glorious resurrection. How do we face the sufferings in our life? Do we like Mary Magdalene focus all our attention on the graveyard of our sufferings and fail to see the risen lord? Do we fail to recognize the voice of the risen Lord who is beside us and calling us even in the midst of all our troubles?

When our life is bowed down by the crosses of life – financial ruin, health problems, broken relationships, or various addictions – We should not be discouraged. We should wait patiently and hopefully for the day of resurrection. If we are able to bury our pain, doubts, worries, complaints and diseases and pray for a renewal, the great resurrecting power of Christ will gush into us and fill all aspects of our life We will listen to his beautiful voice and our life will experience a wondrous resurrection.

I once knew a poor young man who was greatly troubled by his inability to marry off his sister. An unexpected Retreat he attended turned him from being a Christian in name only, to become a true follower of Christ. From that time he was able to face his hardship with a smile and with the words,” My Jesus will provide.” After a couple of years-of hardship but also of great faith-he was approached by 2 old friends who not only brought a good proposal for his sister but also loaned him all the money he needed. Years after the wedding when the young man tried to repay the loan, the benevolent friend said to him,’ I thought you considered me as a brother and not a stranger”, and refused to accept the money. Always remember that if we trust Him, he will lead us from the graveyard of our life to a wondrous resurrection.

In the midst of all your trials, never forget the risen lord beside you. Let your focus and your hope not be on the rotting body in the grave but on the risen mystical body of Christ. Let us prepare ourselves for this Easter. Are we like white washed graves filled with rotting matter inside? let us give up all the rotting things in us that make us impure – anger, pride, envy, lust, laziness, greed and lack of faith and prepare ourselves for Christ to resurrect in our lives.

Christ destroyed death, so we should never search for him among the dead. The god who raised Him will also raise us. This is the glory of Christian life.

Let us listen to his voice, be filled with the spirit of resurrection and get ready for a Pentecost experience. Let us bury our fear, grief and troubles and let us raise our thoughts, our hearts and our faith. Let us also share the risen lord with everyone around us and change their dying, rotting lives into lives of glory.
